Dante Gabriel Rossetti
I was invited by Also Design, to illustrate a section of their upcoming book about Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Morris’s co-founder of their decorative arts firm. Rossetti lived with Morris and his wife Jane in Kelmscott Manor (depicted outside the window). He used Jane as the subject of many of his paintings. The illustration is based on Rossetti’s painting of Jane from 1868 "Jane Morris (The Blue Silk Dress)." I expanded the composition of the painting so it appears Jane is looking toward Rossetti. The wallpaper on the back wall is an original textile design from Morris and Rossetti’s decorative arts firm. Publisher – Chronicle Books Client – Also Design
